Alice Yeung - Composer
Alice Yeung is a musician, composer, and interdisciplinary artist who was born and raised in Hong Kong, currently based in The Hague, Netherlands. She graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, currently pursuing her Master of Music in Composition at Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Her works range from orchestral music, electronic and chamber works for instruments, to experimental participatory interdisciplinary works. She is keen on experimenting new possibilities of different parties’ roles within various dimensions, exploring the power and coherence of nature and timbre.
Yeung’s works have been performed by Calefax Reed Quintet, New European Ensemble, Ictus Ensemble, Ligeti Quartet, HKAPA Symphony Orchestra, HKAPA Chinese Orchestra, Hong Kong Composers’ Guild, Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble, Hong Kong Power Music Orchestra, HKAPA Contemporary Music Ensemble, among others. She has won the New Composers Pitch Prize at the New Music Conference of November Music 2021 at ’s-Hertogenbosch, International Young Composers Academy in Ticino Selection 2021 & 2022, Concerto Feasts 2021 at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She was the composer and violist in “SPARK: The Science and Art of Creativity Festival” organised by the British Council.
Yeung is the recipient of Royal Conservatoire The Hague Excellent Scholarship 2021, Parson Outstanding Composition Student for Creative Music Scholarship 2021, CASH Composition Scholarship 2021, Cecil Leong Scholarship 2020, Dr. Viola Yuen Composition Scholarship 2019, The Society of APA Local Scholarship 2019, HKAPA Junior School Scholarship. She has attended various international academies and conferences, such as New Music Conference at November Music at ’s-Hertogenbosch Netherlands, International Young Composers Academy 2021 in Ticino Switzerland, Takefu International Music Festival 2018 & 2019, Yeoncheon DMZ International Music Festival 2013 & 2018.
